Understanding Vitreo-Retinal Surgery
Vitreo-Retinal Surgery or Micro-Incisional Vitrectomy Surgery (MIVS) is an advanced form of eye surgery in which typically three micro-entries are made inside the eye - using instruments which are about 0.5 mm in size by an eye surgeon.
Indications include Retinal Detachment, Vitreous Hemorrhage, Macular Hole, Epiretinal Membrane, Posteriorly dislocated lens, Silicone Oil Removal Surgery and Intra-ocular foreign body removal surgery.
The small size of the instruments makes healing and recovery faster, and the surgery is a sutureless surgery in most cases. To understand more see the video below.
